How to Keep Your Jewellery Clean?

HERE'S HOW I KEEP MY PIECES SPARKLING:

No Chemicals Allowed: Perfume, lotion, cleaning sprays… my jewellery does not like them. I always make sure my rings and necklaces go on last, after I’m fully dressed and ready to head out.

Separate Homes: Each piece gets its own little spot in my jewellery box. Nothing scratches, nothing tangles - it’s a small win every morning and keeps my dresser looking organised.

Gentle Cleaning: My go-to is a soft baby toothbrush with a little mild soapy water. I gently brush away dirt, then dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic cleaners are a no-go for delicate stones, and I always check that each gem is still secure afterward - cleaning can sometimes reveal sneaky little gaps.

Know Your Metals & Gems: Most of my pieces use 14ct yellow or white gold, or platinum, with 18ct available on request. And the gemstones! Bi-colour tourmalines, sapphires, rubies, topazes, citrine… often finished with sparkling white or champagne diamonds. 

Metals: 14ct / 18ct Gold & Platinum

• • Wipe gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing to remove oils and dust.

  • For a deeper clean: soak in warm water with a few drops of mild soap for 10–15 minutes, gently brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry.

  • Avoid bleach, chlorine, and harsh chemicals. White gold may require periodic rhodium plating to maintain its shine.

Gemstones: Tourmalines, Sapphires, Rubies, Topazes, Citrine

• • Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing.

  • Clean with warm, soapy water and a soft brush; avoid ultrasonic cleaners or steam on delicate or treated stones.

  • Protect from sudden temperature changes and harsh chemicals.

Diamonds (White or Champagne)

• • Clean with warm, soapy water or a jewellery-specific cleaner.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals that can affect metal settings.

A little care goes a long way, and honestly, taking a few minutes to clean, store, and admire your jewellery is kind of therapeutic. Plus, it means every time you wear your pieces, they shine exactly like they did the day you first unboxed them.
